YouTubers upload more than 35 hours of video to the video sharing website every minute, and with the motto of “Broadcast Yourself”, YouTube has now made it easier for people who don’t have a video camera join the fun. With the beta launch of youtube.com/create anyone can use video creation sites Xtranormal, Stupeflix and GoAnimate to make their own videos or animations and post them directly to YouTube.
These third-party video sites are not new, but many video creators may not have known that they existed, and now that they are available on YouTube they’re sure to have more exposure and may gain traction among users. Whether this is good or bad for online video remains to be seen, since it could mean another 35 hours of user generated video uploaded to YouTube per minute. Google plans to add more services and partners in the future.
